Check engine light is on

My gas cap doesn’t click once on my 2014 Hyundai Accent and now my check engine light is on. Is there a specific way to put it on or is it broken?

Try matching up the grooves on the cap with the grooves on the tank. Then slowly turn till you hear or feel a click.
