Moto G (1st gen) screen permanently dim

Hello,

When the OS has loaded though it goes dim and altering the brightness doesn’t make it brighter. What might have gone wrong ? The strange thing is that most times I boot it the boot screen showing the logo and the animation the brightness is normal, then it dims again just before the OS desktop appears.

I should note that the on the replacement screen, the ribbon cable that features a small chip that connects into the motherboard was different in that there was a second small chip connected to the bigger one. On the one i replaced it had only a single chip.
