Joycon not working wireless, only docked

Same day ago i received my shell for joycon and nintendo switch. So yesterday i swapped the whole set and after i completed, i was trying all the stuff to see if there’s something that’s not working. At first i ain’t notice nothing but when i want to play wirelessly, i can’t use my right joycon and the light of the rail doesn’t blink. So i tried everything i could do to get this thing working, unsuccessfully. So battery and light of the rail are working, because i tested on other right joycon i have. Another thing i noticed is the battery of joycon which is at 3/4(when i tested in other joycon), is empty when shown in docked mode.

I don’t know if this will work for you, as I was missing a couple of issues you have such as the battery appearing empty and the light rail on the joycon not lighting up, but I had this issue too! Here's how I fixed it. My right blue joycon wouldn't work wirelessly but would work when connected to the switch undocked. So I went to the change grip/order tab under the controllers icon. I then held down the pairing button on the troubled joycon and it connected. Apologies if this doesn’t solve your issue.

Thank you! Worked for me

I'm having a similar issue, but doing what you recommended doesn't work for me. My left joy con just won't power on when detached. I did what you said, and it says the joy con is paired, but it won't respond or turn on.

Thanks, worked

I had an issue where my Joycons only connect/ work while docked and wouldnt connect wirelessly I wouldn’t usually post answers because normally someone has an answer by now but everyone seems stumped on this and I know it’s not a charging issue because my pro controller won’t connect either. It might seem stupid but I tried absolutely all the troubleshooting advice and nothing… But just now I noticed that I had only been putting my console into sleep and off mode so I tried restarting the console by holding didn’t the button for 3 seconds and then selecting “power options” Now everything is connecting and working fine. Simple solution that no one seemed to mention. Hope it works for anyone else in future.

this guy right here is absolutely 100% correct and remember if you have a modded switch that if you do the emmummc that these issues will be independent of each other depending on which system you're on so you'll have to do it for your modded version and your regular one

nabbo saibot … sounds like your docks are working so we can move directly onto your joycons. follow these guides to troubleshoot. i would look at the sync issue first and then the battery as its giving you weird readings. also, being that you changed the entire housing, it is highly likely there is something that has become disconnected or wasnt connected fully when doing this. make sure you check all of these while you have it open.

I already tried to disconnect and reconnet all of the cable, but nothing changed. I assume that is something about battery because the light when is attacched to the switch is working because i can see them through the shell. (The shell is trasparent)

it could very well be the battery as its getting power when plugged in directly, but doesnt have charge when disconnected.

The battery itself works fine, becayse i tried on other joycon and it as 3/4 of full battery. So, is it possible that something related to the battery as a shirt circuit?

par

well, if the battery works it works. only thing i can think of is the connectivity between the dock and the joycon. this will either be bluetooth or wireless, im assuming bluetooth. are you saying that your dock works with another joycon or that your joycon works on another dock? if your joycon works with another dock, then the issue is your dock. if your dock works with another joycon then its your joycon. probably could be the card/adapter itself or a short on the board for whatever part of the device is the odd man out. not sure at this point. if you find a schematic, link it here and we can take a look if your able to take tests with a multimeter. good luck

I had this same issue. What I found is my battery connection actually got knocked loose from the motherboard. My battery was connected, but the housing was no longer hitting the conductors.

I’m having the same as you, changed the shell and show the same signs as you.

swapped the batteries and still the same problem, no power. No rail lights and only works handheld (works 50/50 had to remove and put em back sometimes for it to register) battery indicator on switch also displays it’s low (red) even though I know it’s fully charged.

Gonna try purchasing a rail replacement and see if it works. If anyone has an answer to this, would help us a lot.

Open your joycon up again and make sure everything is connected and plugged in. I just had this problem and found that one of the wires that connects to a square around the main battery was unplugged. I used one of my screwdrivers to push it back down so that it clicked and now it works fine. (I don’t know the all the words for controller parts so I have no idea what it’s called sorry.)

I was recently having this issue with my sons Switch OLED. The right joy con will work attached to the switch, but not wirelessly. It had not been taken apart I just figured he broke it somehow, he's rough on things. I got a Switch OLED for Christmas, so I decided to try putting the known good right joy con from my unit on his to see if it would work. It work perfectly. I then put the joy con from his unit that is giving trouble onto my unit. To my surprise it connected and started working perfectly both on the unit and wirelessly. I then put the now working controller on his unit and it started working on the unit and wirelessly. I have no clue why that fixed the issue, but it did, at least for now. Maybe this will help someone else down the road.
