My screen is destroyed. Can it be fixed or my photos salvaged.

You will have to put a screen on it to find out. Most likely it can be fixed. If you are going to do it yourself buy a good quality screen WITH A FRAME. It makes it a lot easier to change and you don't to worry about sealing the screen because it already attached. You got heat up the back and cut the glue on the back battery cover around the edge with something thin like a guitar pic. Remove the mid frame with a bunch of Phillips screws then a couple of screws and the motherboard and misc electronic parts. You can get multiple repair videos on YouTube and swap everything over. You may need a new rear cover if you crack it but it's only a few dollars. If you don't think you can do it or don't want to you can check with a local repair shop or you can mail it in.
