Ps1 wont read controller if memory card is in.

So, I bought a ps1 a few months ago from a yard sale . The console was in perfect condition and I also got two controllers and some games and a memory card. The card was in perfect condition . The card, the console, the controllers, and the games, all worked perfectly . I was playing GTA when I noticed that both my controller and my memory card weren’t working . The controller was working ,so I tried to put the memory card in, but then, the controller stopped working, and the memory card would not work if the controller was on or not. So I took the card out and the controller work perfectly fine. Anybody got any leads on how to fix this?

Hello, I think I have an idea about the issue, assuming the PlayStation can deliver 1A of current in each socket (memory + controller) and the controller draws 0.9A while the memory card draws 0.1A, so the equation here is:

PlayStation = 0.9*Controller + 0.1*Memory

Now if the controller or the memory card draw more than what are rated for then one of them or all will not work but since the memory card amperage is very low compared to the controller than it might work alone.

In other words, either your console has a problem and cannot deliver enough power to the socket or your memory card or controller draw more current than usual, so I suggest that we diagnose this step by step.

First, we need to check the voltages on the socket, you need a multimeter for that and if you’re not familiar with electronics then you can ask someone else for help, or you can wait for another answer maybe my theory is wrong.

Can you confirm that you have the necessary tools so I can begin to search the right values please?

So I actually have narrowed it down, it is either the controller or the memory card, to boot I did abit more research and found that alot of times its either those 2 things so I may just test those first. Thank you for the input and help.
