iPhone LCD Backplate is stuck preventing access to the insides

Hello all. Today the adhesive holding the screen of my phone to the finally gave up and now my screen is pretty much loose on all sides:

I’ve had my screen replaced two times (yes I know I’m clumsy) by a third party repair shop so this screen is not an original Apple one.

All I need to do is a simple screen replacement, and a new battery whilst I’m at it as mine is on its final legs, however when I propped up the loose screen to have a look at the internals, I noticed the LCD backplate is blocking the view of the internals.

This confused me as in videos there isn’t the LCD Backplate blocking the way and lifting the screen reveals the insides like the battery.

I checked if I could just simply lift it up and move it out the way but it seems like its attatched at these points:

Here are two additional photos that may help, note how you can’t see any ‘clips’ on the side of the diplay assembly.

Anyway, I am pretty confused and don’t know what to do. If you need any additional info feel free to ask me. Worst comes to worst I hold my phone together with rubber bands and hope it lasts until March when I’ll get a new phone.

The part that still remains on the phone is part of the LCD module. Due to it being a poor quality part they have become seperated so the LCD frame is left on the phone and you have just lifted the LCD itself.

You will be able to lift that frame off just as if you were removing the whole thing. Just get a thin tool underneath the plastic bezel and start lifting from the bottom and work your way up. The clips you highlighted are how the screen is held on so this is completely normal and should come away with some light prying. And also please make sure the 2 pentalobe screws at the bottom of the phone (either side of the charging port) are removed.

Same problem here. At first, I began to think I had a "special model of SE" just to aggravate me. It must have been really stuck as after trying to massage it out, the screen separated from the back-plane frame. Even with the LCD off the frame it still doesn't seem to want to move leading me to believe that someone has been in this before. (I bought it used, so who knows what it's been through.)

All I wanted to do was replace a slowly declining battery, but now, I get to replace battery and screen if nothing else goes wrong.

What really ticks me off is I'm supposed to have the skill set to do any of this as I've been doing it for 50 years as a profession. I repair photo equipment, avionics, pro and consumer audio equipment....and most anything else that has wires. But I guess this time it's more that it appears. For the amount of time I've spent, I should just cut my losses and buy a different iPhone as that's what I've wanted to do anyway. Like I've told my customers in the past; "we can fix anything no matter what it'll cost you".

One thing I've not tried is carefully preheating the phone to soften any adhesives used. Somewhere I read that 60C /140F has been used. It would be easy to get it too hot and cause the battery to self-destruct and go into thermal runaway. That would be very, very bad.
