Nintendo DSI XL won’t read my game, but my 3ds does

I tried playing an old DS game today, and my DSI XL won’t read the cartridge. I tried it in my 3DS and it worked like a charm. Then I thought it might be a problem with my DSI cart reader, but other games worked. I tried updating the DSI and it still wouldn’t read, does anyone have any ideas on what to do?
