Sound Echo after changing battery

I followed the procedure described here to replace my phone battery. Everything works fine now, but whenever I am in a call, the other side reports really bad echo. They can hear themselves back. The echo becomes really bad and the other side hear themselves very clearly when I open the loudspeaker.

What could have gone wrong during battery replacement to cause this echo and how can I fix it?
