Trying to change the engine oil on a 2005 Honda CRV, the oil will not drain into the oil pan. Would really appreciate an answer on how to correct this.

@cliff44 "the oil will not drain into the oil pan" did you mean out of the pan?

@cliff44 take a look on here and see if that works for you. If not let us know where you are stuck with this task. Of course, should there be something wrong with your engine etc. you do want to make sure that it has oil in the pan to drain. I’ve had an engine with a cracked block that did not have any oil to speak of in the pan.

Thank you so much for taking the time to help me out. The problem : As the engine oil is being changed it will not drain into the oil pan. The new oil seems to be stuck.

@cliff44 so you drained the old oil. Closed the drain plug. Then refill the engine with new oil. You need about 4 1/2 quarts to refill it. (You changed the oil filter as well? Does it show on the dipstick after you refilled the 4.2 quarts. How do you know it does not get into the oil pan? You did pour the oil into the right opening ( I do not mean to make this sound sarcastic etc. really just trying to visualize all of this)
