Changing the front camera, does it break face id

I am tempted to buy a phone which needs a screen replacement and from the sounds of it a new front camera because the image is blurry. the buy says that face id used to work but when the camera went blurry it stopped. Does changing the front camera brick face id?

Yes, it does. It is a very stupid measure by Apple.

Does this apply to other devices with face id?

A DIY replacement will render face ID lost.

But a micro solderer will be able to repair/replace the dot projector which is usually what fails for face ID.

It's sooooo fiddly.

You can buy a JC programmer (also used for truetone) and buy replacement JC flex.

Data sucked from old flex, and programmed into new.

Then dot projector is removed, and then within that dot projector, a resistor is removed, along with a transistor, which 2 points are bridged together. Reassembled (precisely) and then it'll work again.

I've tried it, but still not mastered it yet, such a small component to work on!
