Upgraded transcend ssd not at maximum speed

Upgraded my MacBook Pro mid 2014 with an ifix it battery and a new transcend ssd. The battery is working good but the ssd is at lower write speed.

Transcend 240GB JetDrive 850 NVMe PCIe Gen3 x4 SSD TS240GJDM850

The original Samsung is a x2 lanes and I reach speeds of 500/600mb/s

The new ssd is a x4(supported by the MacBook) and should reach speeds of 1000+mb/s. Other people confirmed that they get them for the same MacBook.

I have done a complete macOS re-install but was not able to get more that 600/700mb/s write speed.

Read speed is with 1200mb/s. I have tried other ssd brands and have seen a similar behavior but thought was the ssd quality.

Any suggestions on what could be wrong and how could I fix it?

Hi Marco,

If the OG samsung one was X2 chances are that's how many lanes are allocated to the nvme slot. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do and unless this harms performance in a way that makes it unusable i'm sure it should run fine. Of course I am not dismissing this as not a problem but maybe it's best to try find detail on the Custom NVMe slot Apple uses one their macbook pro's. I know i still have the original 512 samsung drive in my macbook pro running catalina and it doesn't harm performance.

Is there some macOS settings that I could check to understand why this is happening? Seems other people with the same setup get higher write speeds.
