Swap/Repair/Replace 18v Chargers

I have a broken Gladiator brand 18v charger for my battery powered angle grinder. I have 2 working Ridgid brand 18v Chargers.. So I thought why not just move the Gladiator battery interface to one of the Ridgid chargers and use it for the Gladiator batteries. But when I open the Gladiator charger it has two leads to its battery interface.. The Ridgid charger has 4 leads to its battery interface. With it plugged in and no battery installed, no two leads give me a voltage of 18v.. The highest reading I get is 5v DC on each of two pairs. Anybody know why the difference and if my idea of swapping battery interfaces is feasible or stupid.

Anybody have an idea what might have failed on the Gladiator charger? I dont see any broken or loose wires. It has a huge inverter and a huge capacitor in addition to a smaller capacitor and many resistors.. As you can tell I am not an electronics guy.

@rrandor1 this is hard to visualize. It might help if you post some good pictures of what this all looks like, with your QUESTION. That way we can see what you see and hopefully can help you getting this accomplished. Ajout d'images à une question existante

I dont know how quickly I will get to this with pictures.

The Gladiator charger has two leads that attach to the battery.

The Ridgid charger has multiple leads that attach to the battery. The electronics inside the charger have 4 wires that attach to those leads.
