New LCD screen not working after replacement

Hello. Successfully replaced the battery in my gen1 iPad Pro 12.9" but damaged my screen (lcd) in the process. Have now replaced the lcd but it's dark and completely non-functional. Battery is charged to the best of my knowledge. The ribbon cable connectors were difficult to insert, did not just click and lock in immediately despite being extremely careful. The home button swap went okay as far as I know too. Suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Where did you buy the replacement screen?

Is it an unnamed aftermarket product or a refurbished or pulled OEM part?

From iFixit directly, so hoping that means OEM. Thanks.

@Michael Afaik, those are still aftermarket parts but they are vetted by iFixit so it's not like buying from some random Chinese seller on eBay. Just about everything is produced in Asia, and some have absolutely zero QC!

I'll post an "answer" in a few, as I have to write it out :P

I would make sure it is not a backlight problem before getting another replacement. Shine a torch on the screen and see if you can make out an image. If you can see an image there is a good chance this will be a board issue.

As promised here are some information and something you can try:

Start by opening the iPad back up and disconnect the battery first, then the screen, of course taking care to do so carefully to avoid damage. Inspect all components, cables and connectors and reconnect the screen prior to the battery.

Try turning the device on again, without closing the iPad up.
If it's still dark and nothing working, chances are you either did some unintentional damage when you connected it the first time, or you could have received a faulty part. Even iFixit aren't exempt from the occasional faulty part :/

Thanks. I've already disassembled/reassembled the unit and results were the same. The only thing I haven't tried yet is connecting my old screen to see if it still lights up like it did even though damaged. That would indicate a defective or damaged new part, and that my logic board connectors are okay. Does iFixit test returned parts to verify that they are working? Would like verification if the part is bad or not at least.

Thanks for your help.

I've never bought a part from iFixit, as I'm in Norway and my "local" choice is the EU store, which has a very limited stock.

I order from the UK or some US stores if there's something I can't find in the UK. The one or two times I have had a faulty part, I just documented the error and the company didn't even require me to return, they just sent me a new part and I could recycle the faulty part.

I do suspect that they will require a return, and they probably do some testing to see, but to what extent I don't know
