Garmin edge 1000 doesn’t sync with satellites. Have tried resetting
I have tried resetting to factory settings but my Garmin edge won’t sync with satellites. It means the time is wrong, it doesn’t calculate distance biked or how long I have biked. Maps still load but I can’t follow a route. Have latest software and have synced with app.
And the auto backlight feature doesn’t work
Garmin was no help. Any idea where I can get it repaired?

Was this dropped onto hard ground over the years? Presuming the battery is fine and doesn't need to replaced, damage may result from hard contact when inadvertently dropping it. There may be youtube videos of battery replacement and identification of components to help determine where fault lies. With well used electronics, some may not be worth repairing when replacing it may be more cost effective.

Nope never dropped. But have made some progress— realized my start button was stuck so got that working. Ran it under water per Garmin suggestion but also found a YouTube video for how to take it apart and dislodge dirt from buttons. May try that if it acts up again
Now just have to figure out the time issue

TV remotes wear out from repeated button pushing. The rubber membrane has a conducting layer to make electrical contact when pressed onto the circuit board. The soft membrane flexes with the conducting material flaking off until electrical contacts fail. Something resembling black graphite may the layer on buttons. My guess is most rubber or hard plastic buttons may use similar conductive layers that may wear out over repeated button pushing. A stuck button can interfere with all other functions if the electronics isn't expecting to see two buttons pressed simultaneously unless mentioned in owner's manual literature (like resetting). If you can disassemble this Garmin then you may be able to examine button operation and perhaps clean up any built up debris.
