Console startup/ shutdown noise goes haywire upon plugging in

Hi All

Apologies in advance if I have missed an article about this issue, I have seen many about power issues but none seem to be exactly this issue I am having.

I have just bought a Xbox One Forza Edition 1TB console from a second hand store.

Upon applying mains power to the PSU, the console starts playing the startup noise over and over in quick succession without the light coming on.

I press the power button and the light comes on, the console will then do one of three things:

1) It plays the shutdown noise multiple times and at first nothing will happen but the console will then shut down after a couple of minutes without making the noise again.

2) It plays the shutdown noise and instantly turns off, after this it starts to play the startup noise repeatedly again. However. occasionally it will just turn off and go silent.

3) It runs absolutely fine with no problem whatsoever, until I turn off the mains power and turn it on another time at which point there is a 1:2 chance this all starts again.

I have taken the console appart and cleaned it in the hope that it may have been dirt and dust. However, this does not seem to have fixed the issue and I have not seen any damage or problems to indicate the cause.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Update (18th August 2022) - Issue Resolved!

After buying a donor console and doing some experimenting, I have discovered the cause of the issue was the ribbon cable on the front plate of the console. Replacing the front plate has fixed the issue, however the donor machine is a standard black console so the front plate does not match the colour scheme of my Forza Edition one.

I will be following a few guides online to replace the ribbon cable but would recommend anyone having this issue to try borrowing and swapping the faceplate as it may save you a lot of time looking at the power system.

well you could be dealing with an inadequate power supply issue. It can be caused by several things such as: Faulty or loosely connected power cables. Faulty extension, surge protector, or wall outlet.
