@fordlariat start of by reading this really great description of P0345 on here There is a lot more connected to the P0345 code then we assumed.

Wow there is a lot to process in that thread! I will have to reread all of that again when I sober up from that first go around. Thank you

So if my thinking is sound and that’s a big if!! My next thing to check, not replace lol, is the starter.

Some replies in vehicle forums can be misleading from anyone insisting their comments are correct above all others. Ever notice they're from owners and not experts in specific makes/models/years? Even trained dealer techs make mistakes. EFI systems can be either complicated or relatively easy depending on one's knowledge and experiences.

There's a great example of a repair shop on youtube finding and fixing a $1200 dealer repair that failed. Dealer threw parts at the repair and failed. This repair shop was referred to, systematically diagnosed then found..........a severely corroded engine ground falling apart that created mystery problems the dealer failed to diagnose. After replacing the ground cable, all problems disappeared, vehicle owner shared this repair and the dealer refunded costs, possibly from embarassment of the youtube exposing incompetence.

@notbroken absolutely. That is why any forum or any advice, always warrant a healthy does of caution. However, it is always good to consider work that others have done and maybe there is some validity on what was suggested.

Ok so the final answer to this was that the plastic timing chain guide on the VTC was broken, on top of the phasers being broken as well. So they did a complete timing job replacing both phasers and VTC’s. The total damage was $2,200. The truck is back running like a champ! Thank you for all your support.

Update: I took the truck to the base and hooked it up to a computer and they say it is my timing system ie: chain, phasers, guide rods and all.

@fordlariat dang that is way off from the camshaft position sensor. Sorry to hear this and looks like you got quite a bit of work ahead of yourself.

You’re not lying! It’s a bit of work for sure and not sure what tangled web of things that my also need to be repaired at this point. So as much as it pains me to say it, I feel I would rather a professional repair it. My wallet will not like me for it but I think it may be beyond my scope of abilities. I will update with more information as it develops.
