Back Glass Repair = Thermalmonitord Missing Sensor Mic 2

Block Image

While doing a back glass repair I managed to rip both the small microphone sensor under the flash and the gold/white sensor to the right of it. I've gone through the data logs and found an error for a missing sensor Mic 2.

I've read from other forums that this is the Power Flex Cable. My question may be a bit silly but would the power button continue to work given this error?

The phone and power button both work as they should, but the phone will reboot after 2-3 minutes. Looking on mobilesentrix to get a replacement power flex cable, it should be OEM correct?

Any advice is appreciated!

Yes the power button can continue to work. I did a video on an iPhone 11 where the only thing wrong was a tiny tweezer mark in just the "wrong" spot on the power flex cable which crimped the line for the temp sensor. Power button itself worked just fine. For anyone new to sensor errors in iPhones, I recently wrote a blog about how to figure these problems out. https://www.ipadrehab.com/article.cfm?Ar...

For yours--if your power button is working, you can check the connector and flex under magnification to see if you can pinpoint the exact problem. It could be a dimple or tear in the flex, but it could also be a problem at the connector on the board.

@irepairgso, Ah, the dreaded thermalmonitord boot loop.

Mic2 is a sensor connected to the power flex assembly, and you have to replace the assembly to get rid of the boot looping issue.

NOTE! If you can get an OEM pull, that’s the best, but high quality aftermarket ones also work. Only trusted vendors like iFixit themselves or those who do real quality control inspections should be used.

Most, if not all, of the cheap-o vendors are missing a lot of the sensors etc. and it will continue to boot loop even after a replacement.

It depends on where the tear is, but it's certainly possible. The microphone is on its own "branch" of the cable. So if only the mic part was torn, it may not interrupt any other functions. Some pictures of the damage might help,

But I suspect you're on the right track. Yes to the correct cable, and yes an OEM pull or a "premium" cable.

I’ve added a picture to better help. I’m not sure the big sensor is part of the power cable assembly?
