Can I swap an XS Max Motherboard with an XS?

I have one iPhone XS with a motherboard iCloud locked, and one XS Max in perfect shape, but the screen and the battery are dead. I was wondering is I can swap those two motherboard to make a good iPhone XS

Hi Augustin,

No, I'm sorry but the short answer is no, you can't.

The thing is, every iPhone ever made custom designs each motherboard for that specific chassis in order to fit the connectors and needed circuitry within the available space. Since the XS and XS Max are completely different in terms of size, their respective motherboards were optimized for the space available. So the size of the boards, their shape and position of the connectors inside are all going to be different.

In general it's fairly safe to say that you can never use a motherboard for one phone in any other phone other than the same model it came out of. The only place where it's feasible is in changing memory size; for instance upgrading from say 32 GB storage up to something like 128 or 256 GB, but those have to be from the same model of phone such as your XS.
