Samsung gear s watch is not charging

I haven't used my watch for 1 year. So now I placed it on the charger but it seems not to be charging. Shouldn't the battery life display on the screen while it's off and charging? How can I fix it?

Does the watch show any signs of life when you press and hold the Power/Home button?

Battery could be over discharged if its not been charged for a year. Leave it on the charger for an hour or two. Possibly maybe definitely a new battery needed.
