Samsung The Serif: any advice on opening?

Hello community!

I have got a Samsung The Serif television, 2019 model. Unfortunately the front frame has a small crack and I am thinking about changing it myself. I did not find a teardown on the web, so I would like to ask whether anyone had already a Serif opened and can give me advice or warnings how to handle it.

Thanks!

@tops give us a model number. There should be a label on the back of your TV where it is written on it.

@tops never done it but sure looks interesting to work on. Anyhow, give this a try. If you get stuck somewhere, post some pictures with your QUESTION. that way we can see what you see.

That is very helpful indeed! To the first question: The model is a QE49LS01RAUXZG. So it is neither the 43" nor the 55" mentioned in the document, but I guess that doesn't make a big difference.

This guide speaks mostly about disassembling the rear part, so if I understand correctly I could leave out everything from #9 onwards (so no disassembly of the electronics), unscrew the remaining screws that hold the display in the front frame (how do I take it out without putting pressure on the screen from the downside?) and change the frame.

Maybe I would not even have to detach the speaker from the bottom stand bracket.

For the "open jig", I can replace it with a slim screwdriver?

Sincerely thank you, didn't expect such good answers for an exotic television so quickly!

@tops yes that is correct. No reason for you to disassemble those parts. They are just included in the complete disassembly. I had an opportunity to check on the disassembly for the other models and they are the same so this should work for your model.

Hi @oldturkey and others,

finally I will start this adventure. Just three questions left:

The disassembly doesn't cover the front frame. When you did that on another model, did you encounter any surprises disassembling the frame from the screen?

The instructions speak about a tool

BN81-14946A, but I only find BN81-14946B for a reasonable price. I guess that will do?

And about the part itself: I found this one

bn96-49387a

apparently it fits the model

QE49LS01RAU

but would it also fit my

QE49LS01RAUXZG ?

I also don't find any information about the color, but I guess this part is white?

Thanks for any advice!

Adding to that the seller of the part claims it wouldn't fit. But it is exactly the part number cited in the exploded drawing they sent me. So I can't find out what would be the right part to buy. I guess it is this, the seller says it isn't:

@tops the difference in BN81-14946B vs. BN81-14946A could be as simple as just a modification of some of the components to as complex as rewiring some of the connectors. If nothing else, give it a try, but only if you can find a place where you can potentially return it too. Just in case it does not work.
