Why is FaceID not working after screen replacement?

I replaced my cracked screen with a display from iFixit, and made sure to use the front camera part from the old phone and put it in the new display. However, the phone now says "unable to determine if display is genuine" and it disabled FaceID. I was under the assumption that if you used the original front camera part FaceID would still work. Thank you for your help!

@rs0087, If you used the phones original front cameras + flexes, just replacing the screen, then yes; The FaceID should work.

I’d start by opening it up again, then disconnecting battery (always battery first) followed by the screen assembly. Inspect all connectors and flexes under high magnification for damage. If there’s no sign of damage, reassemble the screen assembly making absolutely sure every connector is married up properly. Finally replugging the battery, but before gluing the phone up again, test it for functionality, ie the FaceID.

Is iOS up to date? This did affect iPhones but then Apple changed it in an iOS update.

Hello! Does it matter if it is not a genuine part? Do we have to reprogram Face ID and True Tone function with a dedicated programmer?
