Dyson V6 (SV05).
I charge the Dyson. If I start it using the max button it stops in less than a minute. Then I plug it and press the button for 20secs as advised in this group and with the MAX function it stops working fast but if I turn the MAX off it works for a while? Do I need to change the battery? They are quite expensive. Thanks for your help

It sounds like a weak battery. The Max function is powerful so it pulls more amps, which reduces the voltage the battery sends to the motor. Not enough voltage stops the motor. Probably the regular ( non Max) stay above the minimum voltage so it stays running.
