"REMOVE THE CASSETTE" Error Message with old & new tapes

Hello,

My family gave me an old Canon MD225 camcorder that uses MiniDV tapes. The tape that was in it appears to have about 22mins of footage recorded. However, I cannot play or continue recording, getting 'REMOVE THE CASSETTE' error. When I put a brand new tape in, I also get the same error when I try to record.

Do you think it will need just a headclean?

If the headclean does not work, do you think there may be another issue with it or another way to get it working?

Hi,

Couldn't see it too well in the videos but did you press the "push" button down on the case until it clicks, when you closed the case after inserting the tape?
