Why wont my doors open?

1993 Caddy Deville. Front passenger and rear driver side doors will not open. They act like they are locked but they are not. Tried using key, remote on key fob, and manually from inside. NONE OF THOSE WORKED. How do l get the doors open without using a sledge hammer?

The latch mechanisms in the door sound like they could be rusted or stuck. You could try installing a wood shim between the window and the window seal. It'll make it easier to spray a penetrating spray to get the latch moving again

Hmmm...will try that, thanks! I've already used a whole can of WD on them, but didn't use a shim. If rust is the issue, would the door work smoothly one second and not at all the next?

There are several reasons why a Cadillac DeVille may have trouble opening its doors. Some possible causes include:

  1. Issues with the locking system: If the car's locking system is faulty or damaged, the doors may remain locked and won't open as usual.
  2. Issues with the remote control: If the car's remote control isn't working correctly, the doors may not open with it.
  3. Issues with the door opening mechanism: If the door opening mechanism is damaged or broken, the door won't open even if attempted from the inside or outside.
  4. Issues with the battery: If the car's battery is dead or drained, the electrical system may not function correctly and the doors may remain locked.
  5. Issues with the electrical system: If there is any problem with the car's electrical system, the doors may remain locked and won't open.
