Just to confirm, you're saying your Nissan makes "wheezing" noises when you start it? Where are the noises coming from; is the source the engine compartment? Does the noise continue when you're driving? Does it vary in frequency or duration? If so, does the changes correspond to the speed you're going, or to the engine speed (RPMs)?
The more information you can give us, the better chance we have of being able to help.
Also, what year is your Xterra? Anything else relevant such as engine size or submodel?
