3DS not booting after updating?

So basically i have a 3ds xl that I bought online that had pirated games on it, I played a while on it, and then for some stupid reason wanted to update it...and after I did that, it stopped working, It flashes blue ones and then nothing, doesn't even try to open. Hope I didn't brick it, It was 4-5 years ago, so I don't know what version of luma it had on it.

Most things online say that it is a booting problem, so I bought a new microSD (someone took the old one that was originally there), samsung 64GB and tried to install luma on it with tutorials and such, but it really doesn't work and I can't seem to find a solution? But the card is brand new, doesn't have any folders on it, hopefully it doesn't need the "nintendo3ds" folder for it to start.

I read somewhere that 3ds can't read 64gb cards, could that be the problem? Or is that kind of BS.

I will try to install luma again from zero later, just to check if I really did everything right.

Hopefully there is a solution for this, I'm new to this and this is my first 3ds and I was very excited to have bought it. I just wanna play animal crossing that I bought :( Sorry if my questions sound stupid to someone! If anyone is willing to give some tips thank you!

DO NOT try to install luma from zero. B9S is stored on internal memory, not the sd card. Trying to restart from zero will probably make your problem worse

Let's start with the sd. You can go up to 128GB with no problems, but cards above 32GB need to be formatted to FAT32 before you can use them (preferably with GUIformat if you're on windows). Once that's done, just copy your files over and use it like normal.

The booting problem is pretty simple. Download the latest Luma3DS, copy boot.firm and boot.3dsx from the zip to the root of your sd, then pop the sd back in and try booting again
