Could this cause the motherboard not to work?

If it's just some melting or ruffling of that sticker, totally fine. Pretty sure the metal shield right there there covers all these components, so unless there was damage to that, I would still think it should be okay, but some context around what happened may help us to know more. Some closer pictures of the affected area could also help.
