Inogen One G3 - does not recognize battery after cell replacement

I received a slightly used concentrator that works without errors when using AC adaptor. The battery was IDLE for several years, the cells were dead. After changing the cells and charging via external charger they hold charge. The concentrator will not recognize battery.

Is there a fuse between battery and circuitry to prevent damage from over voltages or voltage spikes? Depending on how the battery is recharged while on ac power, is the recharging/power socket damaged or worn out and preventing switching from ac power to its onboard battery?
