Seiki model SE322FS wont turn with remote control.

My mother has a 32in Seiki TV Model SE322FS. The TV wont turn on with the remote control anymore. I changed the batteries and it didnt help. It turns on fine when you press the power button on the TV set.

The strange thing is that once the TV is on, the remote works fine. You can change the channels with it and volume and so on. You can even turn the tv set off with the remote. But once off you cannot turn it back on with the remote.

I thought that maybe the remote was the issue. But before going out and buying one I downloaded a remote control App on my old samsung phone that has IR capabilities. So i set the app to work for the Seiki TV and it also wont turn the TV on. But again once I turn on the TV using the power button on it. I am able to change the channels volume and even turn it off using the app on my phone.

Does anyone know if it may be the IR sensor on the TV itself that can be causing the problem or can it be something else? The TV has no issues once on. I have used it fora few hours and haven't seen anything else wrong with it.

This is the IR sensor it has.

This is the ir sensor cable leading to the main board and where its connection to the main board. It has a black marking but i think its maker since more connection on the board has the same markings.

@jesusrodri90005 first off, yes, this sounds like it is the IR Sensor. Even so the images are not quite clear, the solder joints do not look right at all. It even appears (could just be the images) that there is a solder bridge between GRD and the 5V as well as some cracked solder joints.. Of course, you could solder the components, clean the board and solder pads and then solder the components since we do not know about the availability of spare parts for the TV. Give it a try and see if that fixed it.

Update (07/11/23)

@jesusrodri90005 could be a little bit of corrosion. IF nothing else just remove the boards and clean it with some high grade +90% isopropyl alcohol. It can't hurt.

I added an image to my answer. Check the component in area 1 Looks like a diode (the one with the three legs. 2 on one side and one on the opposite). See if you can make out the writing on it. Area 2 has some "fuzzy" area and may be it's just the image but double check that area if there is anything "odd"

I was able to find another IR sensor board cheap and replaced it, but the issue stayed the same. It wont turn on with the remote. When you turn it on with the tv power button is response well with the remote control.

@jesusrodri90005 Quick question. Has it ever turned on with the remote?

par

@oldturkey03 yes it always would. Then last month my mother told me it wasnt working. I thought the remote needed new batteries so i changed them and nothing. Then i turned it on the power button it has on its side. Thats when i noticed that the remote worked. i was able to control the tv with it. I can turn the tv off with the remote also, but once it is off the remote cant turn it back on. I dont know if I should buy a univeral remote and see if it helps, but like i said before i download an app on my older phone that has IR capabilities. It also wont turn the tv on, but once on by its power button the phone is able to operate the tv just like the remote does. So it makes me think that buying a universal remote one fix the problem.

@jesusrodri90005 I agree. This sounds like the part that is supposed to get the on signal from the IR board, does not get it. Can you follow the connector and see where it plugs into. See if there is anything "odd" looking"
