1.8 golf mk 1 the car wont start pls help

Are you aware 4-stroke timing requires 720 degrees of crankshaft rotation before top dead center? 720 degrees is two full rotations of the crankshaft. If mistiming occurred, this might be 360 degrees off. TDC is cylinder #1 with intake and exhaust valves closed and when spark occurs. Be sure of timing then move on. Presuming timing is correct, after several failed starting attempts, all cylinders should be wet with fuel. Remove spark plugs and examine them for raw fuel. Chek for compression on all 4 cylinders it might be to low and then the car will not start
