I would like to perform an ssd upgrade.
Could i use this Intel 256gb PCIe SSD to upgrade my MacBook Air 2017. Without an adapter.

No, you would need to use an adapter to convert this M.2 SSD to the Apple proprietary system. Given the variety of compatibility issues, you can try this method, but I would recommend using OWC Aura Pro X2s instead. You can buy just the drive here, or the drive and an enclosure to transfer the data off your old SSD here.
