Hi Max. My Galaxy A01 no longer charges. After double checking cable and adapter, I determined problem lies with charging port. Technician wants $50 for new one. Can I replace it myself for cheaper? And if so, how?

Hi Barry,
The good news is if you're willing to do the work yourself, the port can be replaced for less than half of what the repair shop quoted. From what I've seen, the port it self can be had for around $5-10 USD, so if you invest another $10 or so in an adhesive sheet for the rear case and a couple of tools, you can save quite a bit over what the repair shop quoted.
Also fortunate is the fact that the repair on your phone is really pretty easy, especially compared to other phones. I wasn't able to find any step by step iFixit-style guides, but I did locate a YouTube video that looks like it is complete and accurate.
