CECHA00 turns off in game with blinking red light, not overheating

So I got a PS3 cecha00 yesterday and it works fine to play PS2 games but in PS3 games it shuts off randomly with a blinking red light, I installed webman to check temperatures while in game, but it doesn't get above 60°c (which I set as my desired temperature in webmans fan settings) when it shuts off, and I don't get an overheating warning beforehand (which should pop up in the right-hand corner before turning off). It was doing this even before I applied new thermal paste/dusted it out yesterday (I didn't delid it, just new thermal paste on the heatspreaders). It had the warranty stickers intact when it arrived so it's safe to say it's not due to being reflowed or any other problematic "repair" being done to it, so I'm really not sure what the issue is. Everything I see online says it's a heating issue but that doesn't seem to be the case here.
