LCD screen displays everything on screen except picture

Everything shows on screen but when I go to take a picture the image is not being displayed. There are no warning signs on the screen except the hand with exclamation. But still no image. Any advice to try to fix this old treasure?

@heylauren your picture does not show on the LCD but does your camera take the picture? Can you later on view it. Either on your camera or a computer etc.?

So I tried to see if I could view the image with the picture cradle but unfortunately the pictures it takes are also black.
