Phone has flickering and touchscreen problems (Jerry wheeler I need U)

Im in pain! Recently i bougth some second hand phone It Is a realme 6i, i bougth It because my original phone was stolen with all of my cash , so i worked hard to get some money and buy a cheap phone because im traveling with music around all south América so i needed It to chat with my family.

The problems appear Yesterday but im sure It was because 2 weeks earlier i started to put my ID and some cash between the case and the phone in the bottom of the phone because It has a finger print scanner in the back, Making a bump that pushed the phone reshaping It like a "C", could that be the problem?

Now i have to put some pressure in the bottom of the screen, without that my phone goes bad...

Any help? Plss im low on cash...

Hi juan, sorry to take so long to get back to you.

It doesn't sound to me that the money and ID you put in the case would have been a problem; there's a fairly solid midframe covering all of the delicate internal parts so I'm skeptical what you did would have damaged the phone in any way.

Just to clarify, you're saying that you have to put pressure on the bottom of the phone or the display doesn't work, right? But the phone is still powered up and working otherwise; you just can't see anything on the screen, is that correct?

If you take a look at this picture from an ad on eBay, you'll see that the electronics built into the screen are all located at the bottom of the screen, right at the location where you mentioned you have to press to get it to work.

What that says to me is that you've most likely got a broken or loose connection between the actual LCD printed on the glass and the flexible ribbon cable connecting it to the motherboard. Unfortunately, that sort of damage isn't repairable so the only real fix is to replace the screen. I've been in exactly the same situation; my brother borrowed my wife's iPhone 5C and after having it for a few months the screen stopped working. He found that by taking a binder clip and putting it on the upper left corner of the screen, he could use the phone just fine. Once I got it back I ordered a new screen and replaced it, fixing the problem. So you might be able to get away with using one of those to maintain pressure until you can save up enough to buy a replacement screen.

With your phone there are basically two options for a screen replacement; with or without the frame. The recommended way is to buy a screen that comes already mounted on the frame, then you transfer the parts from your old phone to the new frame. Here's a video showing a teardown, which is essentially what you'd be doing. Note that they neglected to remove the vibration motor in this video, but otherwise you can do a full frame replacement using this video.

The other way to do a screen replacement uses a different procedure whereby you remove the screen from the frame. You'll need some glue or precut adhesive to resecure the display onto the frame, though. This video here shows how to do that kind of repair.

Buying a screen without a frame will be only slightly cheaper than one with a frame, but that savings may well be offset by the cost of glue or adhesive you'll need for the screen. As I mentioned, the professionals always do a screen+frame replacement.

I realize you are very cost-conscious here, so my suggestion would be to check AliExpress for the most inexpensive options. I did a very cursory search and one of the first ones that came up was around $20 USD, which is a good price for any screen. If you dig deeper you may even find it cheaper.

Hope this information helps and was worth the wait. All in all, the TL;DR version is that your screen is probably bad and you most likely need to replace it. Let us know what happens with your phone and how it turns out.
