Why do my AirPods not produce any sound, but state connected

Purchased AirPods Max when they released, used them daily. SANITIZED WEEKLY AS WELL

suddenly last month they stopped producing any sound. Would not play audio, Some point later on would produce sound for a single day then quit and never worked again .

Currently I am looking to repair and would love to modify the colors of each ear piece to have two separate colors.

Issue is I don’t know what is totally broken to repair, They connect, they are updated, Apple recommending to send for repair. Rather figure out myself.

They connect fine to the phone, as they connect all of the sudden now they say “My AirPods Max- Find my IPhone “

Produce 0 absolute sound in each ear.

Which piece would need to be replaced?
