Left JoyCon will not charge or connect to the switch

Hello,

my left JoyCon won't connect to the switch or charge on the switch or an external charger anymore.

Here's what I already tried:

  • My switch works with a different left joycon, so it's not the switch.
  • It worked in wireless mode until the battery died because I couldn't charge it anymore.
  • I tested every button in test mode, they all worked.
  • I triple checked the flat band connectors.
  • I cleaned the rail connectors with a toothbrush and isopropanol while turned off.
  • I exchanged the rail of the JoyCon.

Is there anything else to check? What would be the next step? Exchange the bord of the JoyCon?

I think this in my originial post covers it: "My switch works with a different left joycon, so it's not the switch."

Hi Wren!

So, you already tried to replace the Rail of the JoyCon it self, right?

Then I think the next step is to replace the battery, as the battery does not want to charge.

If this failed as well, we probably need to check the motherboard.

Yes, I already replaced the Rail of the JoyCon. Does the battery replacement make sense when it also didn't connect in handheld mode while the battery was still charged?

Could still be battery related in weird circumstances... I would try it first. If the replacement battery does not work, return it and get a refund. Then it must be motherboard related.

I switched the batteries between left and right JoyCon and the left one still doesn't connect but the right one charges. I'll order a new board then.

If the Joy-Con is having the exact same issue on another Switch, then this is probably the only part left which can cause it. Please let us know if a new board fixed it! Thanks
