Charger light is orange and isnt turning on

hi, i have no idea why this is happening, but ive just replaced the battery for the 3ds, and it isnt turning on, i do not know why its the case, but when i charge it its stuck on an orange light

Was the new battery already charged? Just let it charge for a few hours and try again
