Why is my rav 4 consuming to much fuel

@denniskariuki time for a good check. First off you do want to have the OBDII scanned and see what codes it shows. Next you will have to check your spark plugs. It is important to look at the faces and see what those look like. that will give you an indication on how effective your engine burns the fuel It sounds to me like you could be having issues with either getting enough air for a good combustion, into your engine or you could have an issue with your catalytic converter which does not allow your gasses to exit properly. That will cause an increased fuel consumption and definitely decrease the engine performance. Compression test and leak-down test are also a pretty good indicator of what might be going on with either your valve train or your piston rings etc.

The issue is to broad to pinpoint on here. You will have to test a few things first and then move forward based on your findings.
