What causes the colored strip after installing a new digitizer screen?

Block Image

Hello, This iPad had a badly broken digitizer and screen. I installed a brand new digitizer screen assembly using clamps to ensure a firm and consistent seal. What could be causing the new screen to have a colored strip with various colored lines on the left side of the screen?

Is this problem similar to the one you replaced it for?

par

@hampter Not that I am aware of although parts of the screen were black/unreadable from being broken.

@timothyyoder looks like a damaged screen. Time to replace it once more, just this time skip any clamps since those can cause pressure damage.

Just what I was suspicious may have happened. Guess I’ll prove it with a new screen. Thanks for your input.

Hi Tim, digitizers are extremely delicate and there may be a chance that during the installation that some debris or small particle could have put pressure on the screen and cause the ribbon. I would try to disassemble it as carefully as possible and examining if whether or not there is significant damage to the digitizer underneath. Hope this helps!
