How do I remove the broken end of my ac adapter?

The very end of our power adapter broke off

and is now stuck in the dc port of our laptop.

Is this a repair I can do myself? I've tried small pliers with no luck and now hope to remove it by opening up the laptop and getting at the port. I have the back off but cannot see how to get to the port.

You're the first one that I've ever seen ask this question. The answer is yes. After you get the DC_IN port out, the back middle silver brace will slide out some and the broken tip can be removed. I've done several. congratulations on a most perceptive question. + vote from me. Bye the way, I found this via experience and I don't think anyone else knows, so keep it quite or sales of DC-IN ports will drop.

Great Mayer, thanks for the quick answer. Unfortunately, I cannot figure out how to remove the dc port. Does anyone know of a link that shows me how to do this?

If you got the top off then just look at the port. There should be two screws to take out, and then it lifts off. If you didn't get the top off, look to your right on the screen for the step-by-step guides.

And do NOT use some 3th party cheap chargers, the quality on those are very low! The best you can do is to go on a second hand website and get an official Apple charger, i had this once with a cheap audio cable, the jack broke off in the middle of a new set of speakers, nothing i could do, accept opening my speaker set what did void my warrenty! So my advice, get only the best for your lovely PowerBook!!
