Swap the original A1151 logic board by a A1261 model?
17" MBP 2006 A1151 model
Hi all,
was wondering if I can swap on my non-unibody 17" MBP the original logic board A1151 by a core 2 duo model (A1212, A1229, or A1261), preferably the A1261. They look quite similar on the replacement tutorial (step 14) : MacBook Pro 17" Models A1151 A1212 A1229 and A1261 Logic Board Replacement
Thanks for your advice and help

Thank you for your replies. Have been digging around on ifixit, great site by the way, the boards are similar, but connectors are different between A1151 and the C2D. Ben also pointed out on a different post (on which I commented) that the left I/O board and keyboard are not compatible... just wanted to make sure this is the only parts to swap or if there is any other... So far to swap to a C2D board, I will also need to change : left and right fans, left and right thermal sensors, left I/O board, and keyboard.

If there are too many parts to consider, I think it is a good idea to sell your old MBP and buy a new one :)

I did a swap like that and it is complicated. You also need to consider that the webcam is different so cabling and boards for it have to be replaced too. Perhaps you can update the processor to a 2.33 Core 2 Duo and use MacPostFactor to install Mountain Lion.
