Where can I find pentalobe screws for MacBook Pro with Retina Display

Hello,

I have been trying desperately to track down a pair of pentalobe screws for the bottom case of the MacBook Pro with Retina display. If you have ANY information on where I might track them down (other than the Apple store as it is very difficult for me to get to one), I would be extremely appreciative. Many thanks!

Cheers,

John

guglen,

It's tough. I went to the Apple Store and found that even they did not have any stock since the machine is so new. My machine had other issues so they said it would be easier to just swap it out, which they did, but they did mention it would be possible for them to order some of the screws. I have checked all suppliers I can find (We Love Macs, macparts online, etc.) and no one has any. Both the newness of the machine and the fact that those screws are only used in the Retina MacBook Pro are contributing to their scarcity.

One comment, the two screws above the "MacBook Pro" label on the bottom plate are slightly shorter than the rest and are actually the same screws as the short screws used in the latest MacBook Air -- you can find these on eBay. However, the other 8 screws are only used in the rMBP.

Good luck!

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately I have already tried these. The MacBook Pro with Retina has two screws lengths for the bottom plate, a short and long. The late 2010 MacBook Air also used two screw lengths, short and very long. Unfortunately, what I need are two of the long screws which it seems like the Retina MacBook Pro is the first system to use. I have already ordered a set of pentalobes for the late 2010 Air and they did not quite work. Once again, thank you for your time.
