Your Toshiba unit uses a '''[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parallel_ATA|PATA interface]''' for it's hard drive. Sadly, the drive you have here is a '''[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serial_ATA|SATA based hard drive]''' which is a newer standard.

These drives are not interchangeable as you have discovered these use very different connectors.
