If this was a used Dell (or a system with similar thermal material), it would be a nightmare to get rid of after this long without something like [product|IF179-023|ArtiClean]. That said, even though this isn’t a Dell it will make the job so much easier if you still want to use it.

Since this is a old Lenovo, you can get away with using high concentration isopropyl alcohol or even denatured if you have it. I don’t recommend the AS5 iFixit sells as I have had trouble with the paste drying out and curing wrong, but have not had such issues with [https://www.amazon.com/ARCTIC-MX-4-2019-Performance-Durability/dp/B07LF66ZSV/ref=dp_ob_title_ce?th=1|Artic MX-4].
