Battery Replacement - So much glue
Mon problème
The battery on our Macbook Pro would barely last through watching a movie. I took it to the store and it was going to cost $199 to have the replace it (they also replace the topcase). Since I have experience doing Mac repairs I felt confident I could replace the battery myself, for half the cost (thanks to iFixIt).
Ma solution
It was a fairly straightforward repair actually! The difficulty is with the battery glue and not getting the liquid used to dissolve the glue anywhere else. At first I let it sit for 5 minutes and ended up breaking one of the cards I tried to slot under the battery. I became a lot more patient after that and the battery was a lot easier to remove as the repair continued.
Mon conseil
Accept that this is going to take a while and go slow with the battery. I found if I applied pressure inward with the card under the battery and slid it toward and away from me I was able to unglue the battery a lot quicker.
Be very careful with gluing in the new battery. I set it in the topcase first to gauge its placement, but even with that, when I put it in the battery was slightly too low. Initially I wasn't able to get the bottom case screwed in. With a few forceful shifting of the plastic bars around the battery I got everything together.
