Introduction

If your Acer Chromebook 14 CB3-431-C3WS trackpad isn’t registering touch correctly, remaining depressed once you’ve clicked something, or not depressing at all when you click it, you may need to replace your trackpad.

Try looking at this troubleshooting guide to see if there’s a simpler solution before attempting to replace the trackpad.

Make sure that your laptop is completely powered off, and disconnected from all external power sources before beginning your replacement.

  2. Remove the eight 4mm JIS #0 screws from the back cover.

  4. Lift off the back cover.

  6. Pull the white tab connected to the battery out of the black tab that connects to the motherboard. It is extremely important that this is done carefully and slowly to avoid causing damage to the motherboard.

  7. Lift the battery out gently.

  8. Remove the strip of tape that secures the motherboard connector to the track pad.

  9. Unclip the motherboard connector from the track pad.

  10. Remove the strip of electrical tape from across the top of the track pad.

  11. Remove three 4 mm JIS #0 screws from the top of the track pad.
    • Remove three 4 mm JIS #0 screws from the top of the track pad.

  12. Lift the laptop base and the track pad will come out from the front of the laptop.
    • Lift the laptop base and the track pad will come out from the front of the laptop.
