Be sure the laptop is turned off.

Unplug the laptop from the power adapter.

Place the laptop face down on a hard surface.

Remove the two screws on the access door.

Pull up the access door and slide it off.

Carefully unplug the black cord with the yellow tag to disconnect the battery.

Disconnect the four cables from the motherboard.

Remove the two 2.5mm x 18mm screws from the top of the laptop.

Remove the four 2.5mm x 10mm screws from the left and right sides of the laptop.

Remove the two 2.5mm x 10mm screws from the top corners.

Remove the eight 2.5mm x 8mm screws from the middle of the laptop.

Slowly separate the palm rest from the laptop.

Disconnect the power cord from the laptop to the palm rest.

Remove the palm rest.

Gently lift up and remove the battery.

Many thanks for a decent write up. My only observation was that I don't know why there was a need to unplug the power to the palm rest and fully remove it? You have access to the battery once the palm rest is lifted. Good write up non the less
I agree with Mark. No need to unplug the cable to the palm rest.
I’m confused, my laptop is Alienware M17x R2 but the shape is different.
