Introduction

Use this guide if your touchpad is unresponsive.

A touchpad is a motion-detecting feature that traces a user’s fingers to match the motion of the cursor on the display screen. In this device, the touchpad is connected to the palm rest, so it can’t be removed seperately.

Étape 1 Battery

Flip the laptop upside down and locate the battery latches under the battery.
Place your thumbs on both latches and push the latch inwards.
With your thumbs still on the latches, slide the battery out of the laptop.
To install a new battery, simply slide the battery back in the slot. Then, check if both battery latches are locked

Using the Phillips #0 screwdriver, remove the three 4 mm screws that are securing the bottom cover.
Remove the backplate carefully, making sure not to bend the cover.

Using the Phillips #0 screwdriver, remove the two 4 mm retaining screws located on the battery slot.

Flip the laptop back over, showing the keyboard.
Using an opening tool, pry open the keyboard starting from the top left. Work your way around until you are able to loosely lift the keyboard.
You should see two ribbon wires located beneath the keyboard once you are done.

Tweezers

Pull on the black tabs above both ribbon wires using tweezers upwards.

Remove both ribbon wires.
Remove the keyboard from the laptop.

Using the Phillips #1 screwdriver, remove three 8 mm screws.

Flip the laptop over to the front.
Using the same Phillips #1 screwdriver, remove three 4 mm screws.

Tweezers

Pull up on the small black tabs using precision tweezers for the two ribbon wires.
Disconnect the two ribbon wires.

Disconnect the black wire by pulling it out gently.

Pry open the palm rest using the spudger.
Remove the palm rest and set it aside.
You can start from anywhere, but the best place to start would be at the bottom of the keyboard.
