  • This next step requires the use of a heat gun or hair dryer. Follow this guide for more information on using a heat gun.

  • Use a heat gun on low, around the edges of the speaker to loosen the adhesive that holds the speaker in place.

  • Point it down on the speaker at a distance of about 2-4 inches while moving in a circular motion around the edges of the speaker. Do this for about 30 seconds.

  • Use caution when using a heat gun. The barrel of a heat gun gets very hot. If used incorrectly, you could burn yourself or possibly even damage the device.

  • Turn off the heat gun and set it aside.

  • Use an opening tool or plastic spudger in between the edges of the speaker and the black case. Gently work the spudger around the perimeter of the speaker until it is free from the cover.

  • Once the speaker is loose, gently pull the speaker out.

  • Don't yank it out. The speaker is attached by a cable to the motherboard.
